Re: Transferring a bond between human partners.

I do agree that it would be hard on Charlie to just have my wife take over to ensure she bonds with him. It's not like he never goes to her, tonight I was giving him some attention, and he decided he was going to walk between out lounge chairs and say hello to Karen (wife), and sat with her for a ti...

Transferring a bond between human partners.

We own a 7 year old Indian Ringneck and over the years we have both spent time with him but he has seemed to have bonded with me. The issue there is he was bought as a gift for my wife. We spent equal time with him really so I guess he made the choice. If I am sitting near the wife and the bird is o...

Great video. Hopefully I can get Charlie to do similar stuff.

What were you using for reward treats?

Re: What to Feed your Parrot (recipes, toxicities, links too

I just made a batch of the sweet potato mash for our Charlie and he loved it. I put in 500g sweet potato Then about a 700g chopped mix of Capsicum, Carrot, Cauliflower and a little corn mixed through for some highlights. Just what I had in the fridge spare. My mix didn't go as runny as yours looks i...

RE: Yogurt. I found this via a link above in the main article. Dairy Birds lack the digestive enzymes needed to break down milk sugar and milk proteins. Uncultured milk products such as milk, cream and butter should not be fed but yogurt, cheeses and dried milk can be supplemented in the diet in mod...

Hi Julie. My wife clipped him. We got him out again tonight and had more success. He actually sat with me and let me scratch him happily. Then he crawled up under my jaw and stayed there for a chin scratch so he is warming to me. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/knight76/DSC00280a.jpg

Our Taming Progress

Hi all. I recently bought a hand raised and tame IRN. Now admittedly the breeder has done alot of work with Charlie to the point where he is not really hand shy and will hop onto your hand readily. Tonight we got some watermelon and I was able to hold it out to him whilst he was sitting in my other ...

If they cant digest milk, how about yogurt? The every day fav foods for mine are, corn on the cob, apple (no seeds), capsicum (bell peppers for those in the US) sprouts, peas, carrot and banana. Every other day I give them soaked milk arrowroot biscuit and once a week I treat them with scrambled egg...

Thanks for the replies. So you don't cook the corn on the cob then? Do you put the entire cob into the cage or do you cut the kernels off and put them in a tray? I am mostly just after a general recipe I can follow to mix up and freeze, it does not have to be something cooked, but just something tha...

Gimme a good daily recipe please!

Hi all. I recently bought an IRN for my wife (yes, a christmas pressy). At the moment we are just feeding him/her budgie seed and I know that isnt ideal. So what are some recipe's that are easy to cook or mix up and freeze. The bird is only a few months old now and is not long eating seed. Now bear ...
