Re: greetings from new ringneck enthusiast

Breaking news! I just talked to the vet, and Neles dna test came back as a boy!!! I wonder if we need to change his name now? [/color] Yes, after reading your description of Nele's behaviour I am not surprised. Females are generally much more one-person birds. I have previously two males and they w...

Re: keeping 2 hand tame IRN's

Hi We have a 3 year-old female green called Spud and have just got a 3 month old baby albino that we are THINKING is male, but not really fussed either way. Still working on a name - Loki suits, but we are heading towards Floyd. Anyway, a bit off topic that bit, but I found this - now old - post reg...

I could be wrong but I don't think you can, at least permanently.
Every IRN I have had plays with my glasses and all I do is cover my ear with my whole hand and they leave them alone for a while. They will always go after them as the arms are great for chewing on...!

my IRN keeps having SEX with his/her perch!!!!!

It gets quite embarrassing!! The perch is a bendy-bar fabric thing but one end doesn't have the bar-end. Instead it is fluffy. The bird is nearly 1 year old, not sure whether male or female Tail tucks right under the perch with wing/shoulders out and vigorous rubbing and little noises. Three times i...

Right, finally an addition to this one. I have to bribe Ziggy with toast of all things to get him into the cage in the morning when I head off to work. No problems there. Nil is right - you want to get him used to your hands so avoid the towel if you can. Sometimes they don't mind (rarely), but generally I think most people only use it for clipping.
This will probably mean a few nips, but the bird has to learn that your hands won't hurt it.

Might take a couple of days for Tango to realise that things aren't the way they used to be.
