Re: Question On Bluffing
I just read these posts on bluffing and will share my experience of being an Indian Ringeck owner for over 13 years and my very REAL bluffing experience. In addition, I have been able to observe and interact with IRN parrots from hatchlings to adulthood for over a decade. I also own and have interac...

From what I have read I think ALMOST any mutation is possible and not all are documented because it takes time and research when a new mutation does come around. So, I don't know for sure. Loretta, Here's the thing. It might be a problem and it might not, you really wouldn't know until you housed them together. You should first see how the birds interact with each other. Jim_Downunder, IRN's live about 40+ years...some can live a lot longer! I think I've seen up to 60 years. You can tell their sex many ways. The easiest way is by the ring. Congrats on your new IRN Laura! Yes, the orange band on her foot is put on by the breeder. It usually indicates the birth info. I'm not sure what other information can be obtained from it. I don't believe they sex the bird though. However if your bird is mature (about 2 years old) the ring would be ...

Hi Loretta, I'm not sure if you got an answer to your question but the easiest way to tell if your IRN's are male or female is by the ring. Fred, The bluffing stage varies in each IRN. I think a year is probably an extreme bluffing case. Though I am not sure, I only have had one IRN. Hello Mandy, Yes, your bird can have fruit everyday! I give my IRN fruit and veggies everyday along with seeds. He should have a varied diet. Hello Michelle, Your bird is still fairly young so I'm sure you can stop the nipping thing. I think the key to not getting nipped is using a DISTRACTION. The reason Paddy probably only goes on your hand when you have a cloth or old sock is because maybe that is what you got him use to.
