sudden "biting" & "unprovoked attack"
Hi: I''ve a couple of questions which I hope someone can provide some advice on, with regards to "biting" and "unprovoked attacks" from my IRN. I've a Blue IRN (Male), and he's about 4 years old (born around Oct 2004). Whilst I do notice that it may seem that's it the mating seas...

Well, yeah they're both like kiddies..! Spike does have his moods - he'll sometimes peck at Hoogie for trying... But then Hoogie himself can be quite cheeky too - like what he's doing, just doesn't want to give Spike any peace at all. If Spike stops eating or playing with the honeybell, Hoogie stops...

It was actually the other way round for me. My cockatiel loves my IRN and would just follow it around all day long. In fact, he is quite bossy, and always 'demand' that my IRN Hoogie be around him. However, they do bicker occasionally. I have to look out and make sure that Hoogie does not hurt my co...

Hi! As long as your IRN does not sit at the bottom of the cage and is perching, I think it should be alright. I am not sure for IRN, but for other birds such as cockatiel, if they sit at the bottom of the cage, it may be signs of sickness. If that is the case, it may be good to have the bird checked...

Hi David, I do think 108 g is a bit light for an 18-month old ringneck. Mine was about 9 months and he is currently 122g. When I first got him home at 8 weeks old, he was 120g. He then put on weight during the next 3 months. The heaviest was 140g. And then, in the past 2 months, he lost weight and e...

I have to say that it is true that if the bird has company, he/she will not response to your training as well as if he/she is alone. I have a cockatiel and he was a very cautious bird. We can never pat him. When we first saw him in the pet shop, he seemed very active and was whistling all the time. ...

Hi! I have a cockatiel and IRN. Have to agree with colettec2000 that cockatiel can be noisier. IRNs are certainly louder, but they do not squawk all day long. Hi Carrie, I think the key thing is still to ignore the behaviour and give her lots of attention. Mine 'Hoogie' started the bluffing stage 2 months ago and I went through a hard time trying to 'endure' the pain whenever he bit me. He was also not as friendly to my husband compared to me. But since I...
