Nope, they did not have any perches . It was him, another quaker and 4 tiels all sitting on walnut bedding alone! Anyways, I have no idea how old he is because he is not banded . I am just going by what the guy at the pet store told me and the fact that he has a new looking stubby tail. But for all ...

Quaker...

Took my new baby quaker to the vet yesterday. All is well! Only thing is, since the pet store didn't have him on any perches, he is a very clumsy little thing and stepping up frustrates him (it doesn't help that they cut too many of his feathers and cut them too short)! I've put the perches low in h...

It is unlawful for any person keeping an animal or fowl to fail to provide for that animal or fowl: (a) C...

DNA SEXING

I was wondering about DNA sexing. Most sites I have seen want you to clip the birds toenail until it bleeds. Does this hurt? Will it be uncomfortable for the next few weeks? Will I make my baby afraid of a nail trim? I can't do blood feathers because we don't have any... might have some soon though ...

Bad Habit?

Master Chief always chews on his toe nails. I cut them as often as they need to be cut and I cut them as short as I can without clipping the quick or taking away his ability to hang on to suff. Is this just a bad habit or is there a reason? Do any of your birds do this?

Usually males have brighter cheeks and the underside of their tail feathers is clean, females have bars on the underside of their tail.
