My comment... It is better to have a sweet, happy bird than one that is not well-behaved and has a 250 word vocabulary. Be thankful for what you have. When it comes to talking... no guarantee,. we knew this when we got an IRN.

Darn, now I am torn. My baby is usually out with me. She is in her cage maybe 10 hours a day TOPS! But I want a chatty baby. Hrm. Have to rethink some of this.

She would actually prefer to be in her cage more. She has lots of fun in there. Think I may pay her too much attention.

My 9 week old IRN, India is no bluffer. Touch her when she so not desires and you draw back a nub... even at 9 wks. Very sweet baby, just hates to be touched. She doesnt like touch ever but will sometimes tolerate it for maybe two or three strokes them BAM! enough is enough she says.

Thanks for the understanding. I think I am going to give her a day or so of no touch. Let her keep coming to me on her terms when out of the cage. On her terms when in her cage, being calm and soft with her.

The viciousnous was shocking. Hurt my feelings actually.

IRN's hate their cages covered. They are very sensitive and feel too isolated when covered. Don't cover the cage for a night. Bet you'll see a difference!

Wow, I should consider myself lucky. My India can't get enough formula. She is a little piggy. She would eat 50 cc's a day if I let her despite the fact she spends alot of time playing in her food dish.

That is SO true. I was able to teach my 8 week old IRN 'step up' in ONE DAY! It is less tramatic for both she and I to get her in and out of the cage. She is a mean little hen with an attitude but she has a sweet side that makes up for it. Grrr, really tired of sore fingers though.
