Hi there Thank you so much for taking Gigi into your loving home... She's a lucky girl. In my experience with intellectually disabled people, many autistic, I find that's a perfect description of a parrot, regardless of species. I have: Duke - Green Cheek Conure Charlie - Sun Conure Shrek - Quaker T...

I have always found it interesting why birds want to go on the shoulder... If they want to get to the highest point, ideally they would try to get on the top of your head. Maybe they've all read the 'pirate' books, where the pirate has a Macaw on his shoulder? Another interesting thing, is that my b...

I'm sorry to say that I don't find that cage suitable at all for Indian Ringnecks, let alone for breeding them. Please look into other housing for your birds, and maybe put a couple of pairs of finches in that cage... Max 4 birds. I've heard finshes are really good breeders... You'll probably need t...

I agree, Stu... Life in itself is dangerous, and there's a dignity in risks. I suppose birds love alcohol, because it's so readily available in the wild, like fermented fruit. I had 2 cats come home drunk - they couldn't even walk, and their eyes - never seen anything like it. I took one to the vet ...

Ooops, missed this one. When you clicker train, the bird knows that click=treat, so he'll automatically let go of the object in order to get the treat. Of course the clicker will need to have been paired with a treat (the most irresistible for the bird) - a treat not given at any other time but duri...

A lot of research has gone into this problem, since that article was written, and non-stick cookware has improved a lot, using different ways to surface the cookware. I've heard Scan-Pans are OK. There's a lot of new stuff coming unto the market, and people get more aware of the dangers of poisons used. Also different delivery methods. I would ask your hardware store. If they are well educated on their products, they should be able to tell you about the poisons used, and how safe it is. You ...

A petshop or breeder might be able to help you with wing clipping.
Here's a great link on the subject:

All my birds love sunflower seeds, but only get them as treats. Sunflower seeds are high in fat, and I suppose birds can get addicted to them (like people getting addicted to junk food). Maybe that can be the reason for aggression. If they eat too many of them, they won't get a balanced diet, as the...

Some people put a little apple cider vinegar in the water to prevent mould. I give my birds sprouted seeds every second day. They love it. I have never had any problems with them going off. But if they do, don't use them. Your packet of seeds might be out of date, or haven't been stored properly. Al...

Most handreared birds will accept being bodily picked up. They got used to being picked up like that, just before being fed. Even my Green Cheek I could pick up this way, and still can.
