Returned to the site with a new IRN and Alexandrine

Hello I haven't been on this site for a while since the death of one of my ringnecks, Percy, but I was recently given a new baby ringneck and just got an alexandrine yesterday. They have both been handraised and were obviously bonded with their previous owners, so I am having trouble getting them to...

Super sports star! . . .

I wish! I saw Aj on youtube play sports, so when I was at my local $1 store (crazy clarks for anyone in QLD, Aus) I got these mini sports things for $5 all up! He hasn't shown much natural talent yet but can push a marble bowling ball to knock down pins. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/barry_...

Bone exposed

My ringneck has some bone exposed at the top of his wing. Its very noticable when he has a shower. It occasionally bleeds if he knocks it. Is this a birth defect or would it have been caused by an accident. He had it before we bought him 2 months ago but we didn't notice til his first shower. http:/...

That is a beautiful little bird. Well done on successfully breeding it. I used the ticking clock and teddy with my puppy. I never thought i would work the same for birds. Very cute.

Thanks

Thanks for those posts. We have called every radio station, put up a few posters, and checked for lost ads in the paper and a local publication but haven't been able to find the owner. Its a shame because its a beautiful bird and I bet the owners are really missing it. A staff member at the school i...

Help Needed to ID a parrot.

This parrot was found at the school I work at and we are trying to find its owners. Can anyone tell from these pictures (sorry, room was dark and the bird wouldn't stay still!) what kind of bird it is. I am guessing a green cheek conure. We are going to call local radio stations to report it and we ...

Mites and lice

I have just found three little mites/lice on Petey. He has never had them before and I haven't introduced anything new. I was wondering where they come from.

I gave him a bath, cleaned the cage and toys and sprayed him and the cage with mite/lice spray. Is there anything else I should do?

Thanks for posting everyone, and thanks Angie for the link to that thread. I filled the cage with toys and moved the birds in and because I don't close the door, and they love being on the outside, they haven't touched the toys! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/barry_4703/P1010341.jpg The cage...

Is this female behaviour?

This is Percy, and I've had her/him for 2 weeks. I was told by the breeder that he/she was about 12 months old. They took percy to a petshop to be sold and went back a few weeks later and saw that school kids were poking her, so they bought her back, and sold her privately. http://i186.photobucket.c...

Post a picture of your cage please?

Hi, I just bought a new cage for my ringneck on ebay and would like some ideas about what to put in and where, like positions of perches and toys. I would love to see some other cages for ideas. Thanks Here is the cage. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/barry_4703/cage.jpg

Scared to death?

I am just wondering if anyone had heard of instances where ringnecks were scared to death?

I recently heard that 3 budgies were scared to death by a cat and my ringnecks aren't keen on the parking dogs around the neighbourhood.

Introducing two IRNs

Hi I just bought a new ringneck while on holiday for the weekend. Its one year old and blue. It has come from an aviary but it had a clipped wing and when i got it home it stepped straight out onto my shoulder. I was wondering how to introduce it to my other ringneck, petey. Petey is also one and is...

My ringneck is obsessed with jewellery.

My ringneck won't leave jewellery alone. If he is on our hands he will chew at our rings or my bracelet until we take it away.

Its becoming anyoying because I have to take off my ring everytime I hold him.

Does anyone else find this?

Thanks Angie Actually in these photos he has two long tail feathers. All of the others have been cut. We got Petey a month ago and the breeder has clipped a wing and cut the tail feathers off except two. Today however he broke one of his two tail feathers and he kept standing on it when he was climb...

Just wondering about seeds in different fruits. I know that apple, pear and grape seeds are poisonous but are other seeds ok, particularly kiwi fruit and tomato seeds. Thanks

Petey

Hi, I am new to bird ownership and thought I should introduce myself before hitting the forum with questions. This is an excellent site for new IRN owners and I am so glad I found it. Petey is my first bird and I got him (or her) from a breeder 10 days ago. He wasn't hand raised but is very tame and...
