Recessive Pied or Dominant Pied
hi I'd like to know the visual difference between a dominant pied and recessive pied. A person advertised two birds as SF violet harlequin pied and a DF violet harlequin pied. I know harlequins are dominant but i want to be sure if they are the right birds. they looked like these without the yellow ...

Re: What to pair with a Violet and Double Factor Violet
Hi
a double factor grey bred to a violet will produce all grey phenotypes, so its not a very good pairing. If its single factor grey it should have 25 % violet offspring
Have you already bought the violets ?

Re: PIed Palllid ?
i dont see the edge dilution in the bird, the wings do look alot like lacewing, but yeah the head is too dark for lacewing.
What would be a good breeding option for this?
i was thinking sf violet, that should produce violet green dom edged split blues

Re: PIed Palllid ?
Are the patches going to affect the results in breeding, or are they just visual patches that wont change anything in the babies?

Re: DF VIolet Green
Yeah will find atleast a violet blue for this bird after i have him sexed
so are you positive that he/she is split to blue, or should i breed him to another blue IRN to see if he does carry the gene?
@Johan: no i got him as a hand tame baby for 350 so i still have a budget to spend around

Re: DF VIolet Green
I tried using the GenCalc for IRN's but from most of the pairings i am only getting violetgreen DF's and SF's visuals like i said before, both of his/her parents for violet greens, so he/she is not split to anything oh and i live in canada, finding violets here is hard, nobody wants to sell the rare...

not even a cobalt? Because I've been doing a lot of research on cobalts and the colours seem to match
What I meant with turqoise is that the normal blues are lighter than this bird (something like the picture with the flash)

What temperature is best for the birds
My ringneck setup is in the basement where it is a bit "chilly" around 21 Celsius (70 Fahrenheit).
What would you recommend good temperature for breeding and any idea's on "how" to maintain the temperature

Re: Setting up my IRN pair
True that but one thing I'm worried about is that I'm not too sure that the birds are bonded, the female is the boss here. They don't mind each other in the cage but squawk if the other gets too close, will they get along if either one of the birds want to breed? because they are individual birds ri...

I bought the pair from a breeder who I,ve known for a very longtime and he said that this was a proven pair and had 4 babies last y...
