Bella loves to ride shotgun (sit on shoulder) while I potter around the house. Rarely goes for the face but every now and again grabs the skin on my neck and chomps down. Oowwweeee does that hurt!

Pendulum Parrot

Bella can be so funny some times. In my attempts to encourage him to climb up a knotted rope I have attatched a 1.5 meter rope to the ceiling with a swing and his fav toy up the top. He discovered that instead of climbing up the rope, if he hags upside down from the bottom knot and flaps his wings h...

Yeah they are clipped. My only real fear is of other birds when they are out there. I just keep an eye to the sky.

Bella and Beacon

I haven't had any photos of both the birds together so I took some pics while there were having a climb in their favorite bush. They are both so adorable together its a pity they dont play nice more often. Bella is the green and Beacon is the white. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q293/alang80/DS...

Broken Feather

My little Beacon took a jump last night and when she landed one of her flight feathers that were growing back (she's clipped) snapped. It broke quite high and there was a fair bit of blood for a feather. She doesnt seem to be bleeding anymore. Will she be ok? Is there anything I need to check?

There is a lot of man bashing going on here. I am the man of the house (just don't let Mia know that I think that) lol We are getting there slowly. We have figgured out when its attention seeking and when its just talking. Attention seeking is a couple of skwalks followed by running up and down the ...

Its Still Happening

Its been near 2 months since I put the first post up about Beacons noise. For the past month we have been ignoring her skwalking. But it seems to have made the problem worse. Its no longer a case of her having small noise sessions. They last from wakeup to bedtime. We cant watch TV cant even think i...

Taming 2 Birds

Are there any tricks when you are trying to tame/train a parrot when you own more than one? Do you work with each bird separately or do you work with them together?

Our noisy parrot is hand raised and only went into and aviary 6 months before we got her. She is 2yo now. She has settled down a bit since the first post. The birds now have their own room and are behaving them selves at bedtime and in the morning. So any response is a good response in the birds eye...

Oh the noise!

We are at the end of out tether with our new gal Beacon. She constantly skwalks at the top of her voice. She is relentless with it. We have been using the NO tactic. Ill ingore most of her noise most of the time but when she starts doing the full volume skwalks Ill go up to her and give her a firm &...

I really like the albino ones too. They are so versatile, you can dye them any color you like  She is settling in well, very noisy but so was Bella at the start. Still no name, personally I'm liking Beacon (because of the noise)

Meet our gourgeus girl.

Hi I'm Al and I'd like you all to meet Mia and our girl, Bella. She is about 8 months old now. We got her when she was 4 months and she was a right terror. Always running away or biting. Using the advice we have managed to train her to step up and down and kiss. She still bites but she is getting be...
