I've been told a young IRN will moult randomly, but once older they will moult right after breeding season, then maybe a couple of small moults in between until the next hard moult (which is once a year).

NO, I would seriously recomend NOT to house them together, it is not safe for the cockatiel (especialy if clipped). I personaly don't think its true. My IRN likes looking in his/her mirror and out the window. But the windows and mirror could be dangerous if your birds wings are not clipped, as they could fly into them and seriously hurt them selfs. If your bird has full flight (not clipped) I would cover windows ...

You could also try giving Oscar a bath or spraying him with lukewarm water each day. Moisturised feathers are less likely to break, as apposed to dry brittle feathers. If you already spray Oscar thats great, just ignore this post.

I've been using 'Insect Eliminator with 100% natural Pyrethrins' by the brand 'Expra'.I only use a little bit when i have to and I've seen no problems with my IRN, but it does say not to use around fish tanks. It has no warning around pets like most fly sprays do so i don't know if its suppose to be...

Hi I was just wondering if i should change the perches positions around regulary in the cage to stimulate their brains, or do ringnecks prefer their cage to stay the same for security? any comments on this with your experience would be appreciated as i've read to change their perches positions regul...

You could try a few guinea pigs in the aviary they help keep it clean and keep the mice and rats away.

Dark eyes

Hi all,
Just a quick question... I have a 4 month old grey/green ringneck (named Pounamu) and it has quite dark eyes and is really hard to see if s/he is pinning them or not. Is this just because s/he is young or will they always be quite dark?
