getting pellets

Hi guys,
You can try getting your pellets directly from the company. Also call your local avian vet and see what they carry.

seed eaters

Hi Mikaela, I too had a problem with my birds only eating seeds. All pellets just sat there untouched and out of fear of them starving to death I gave them seeds as the staple diet. While at the vet one day I found out how wonderful Nutriberries are. They are nutritionally complete and the birds can...

Favorite bird name

Naming birds is so difficult, but I've narrowed it down to these three for my Quaker. What are some good ideas for names

Thanks Makaela,
I will go check it out and let my brother take a look. Maybe I can get him to build one for me. You should go into business making and selling these things. You could get someone else to build. hee hee That way you'll have time to run the business part of it...

Mikaela, a question

Mikaela,
What is the bird stand you have in the background. It looks like it's two levels? I think I have to have one. Did you make it or buy it? I think it would be perfect for my birds, but I've never seen anything like it before. My brother is good at building things though

Awe. My quaker does exactly that when I rub her there. If you've ever seen a quaker face from the front when they do this, they are so hilarious looking. A face only a mother could love really. Otherwise of course, she's beautiful

screaming IRN

Yes, to clip or not to clip is a double edged sword for sure. I have made my decision to keep all mine clipped after losing my beloved Tiki. I can't go through losing another bird as I'll never get over losing this one. They may sulk for a few days, but they'll be fine after that. Anyway, since you'...

head bobboy

My Tiki used to do this when he was flirting with his companion Leah. He put on quite a show. IRN's are so beautiful when they do this. My sister in law likes conures, but when she watches my IRN's in action doing this she gets so jealous. Their beauty is unmatched as far as I'm concerned.

screaming IRN

Hi Mikaela, I do agree with you. When I bought Leah 2 1/2 years ago I had no idea what i was doing. i was looking for a companion for Tiki. I live in Michigan and at the time I couldn't find a IRN anywhere in the area, but found an add for Leah. She was a 5 year old breeder bird. I thought, ok no pr...

Thanks for your repllies. Well I did cage Leah with Tiki her mate that flew off. They did ok for the two years together, except of course, Leah was the boss. I got an email from a woman that has alot of birds and she was talking about putting a male and female together causing problems if they can't...

one more thing

I forgot to mention, if you put your hand in the cage or toward your bird with your hand bent inward so the skin on the back of your hand is tight, then put that part of your hand toward the bird. If the bird bites that area, it can't get a hold. I did this with my male IRN that bit me so hard one d...

lunging IRN

Selma, I have a 5 1/2 month old IRN. She was never really tamed when I got her at 2 months of age. She still loved to watch me on the computer and she throws her toys to the floor for me to pick up. If I'm on the computer and ignoring her, she'll start throwing them to get my attention. When I went ...

cost of IRN

I think $350 is fair for a gray, cinnamon or blue. You can probably get them a bit cheaper, but it's hard to find them and that usually means shipping, so if you can find one locally for that, it's a good price.

Screaming IRN

Hi guys, Thanks for your reply. My screaming female (Leah) doesn't get covered, but that's a great idea! I did let them both out of their cages (she is free all the time anyway) one day and they seemed ok together. The male went to her cage and got on it while she was on her perch stand and then he ...

screaming IRN

Hi Guys, I have 5 parrots and 10 finches. 3 IRN's, one plumhead parakeet and one quaker. I've had the 7 year old female IRN for over 2 years. Her cage mate flew away 4 months ago and I've since aquired the other birds. I had recently gotten a male IRN and after quarantine put him in the same room as...

talking IRN

Leaving them in the cage doesn't guarantee you'll get a talking bird, you may end up with a screaming bird instead. I'd continue with the attention and out of cage time and hope for some words. My IRN said hello and barked like a dog before he was 8 months old and later learned to say his cage mates...

Hi,
Go to petnamesworld.com
They have specific bird names or any other animal you may want to name. They have gender friendly names too and you can save the names you like in a folder on their site and print them out or sift through them later.

Hi Xenobia, I love the picture of your new baby. you're lucky to have a hand tame one as i have a 16 week old that is not hand tame and quite the biter. She got ill during the holiday weekend while we were away so the vet put her on antibiotics which means i have to handle her twice a day and in a w...

Re:finally a new IRN

At that age it might be difficult to hand tame, but because he's a male, it might be a bit easier than a female. At least that's what my vet told me. I have a 7 year old hen that was 5 when I got her and she follows me around and calls for me when i leave the room, but bites me when I try to handle ...

Re: would like opinions from other owners

Hello LeAnn, I tried to post earlier this morning, but it didn't go through. Yes, I think this bird is lonely. I also think it may be looking for it's previous owner. Did you try to find it's owner when you found it? I know an online organizations caled 911 Parrot that helps reunite lost birds with ...

New here and lost IRN

Hello all, This is my first visit to this board. I've had two IRN for 4 years now and my male escaped on April 25th. I was cleaning the floor and openned the door to air out fumes when his mate Leah walked out. She doesn't fly. Tiki does, but he walked out after her and started doing the danger cal...
