Re: tips for having a flighted IRN
My Jibby boy has been flighted most of his life now and I find him easy to handle.. with FOOD. Lola was also flighted and like Janey, headstrong. They are so smart and take advantage of it when they can fly! They definately get an attitude when they can fly and get to places we cant reach. I h...

Some of you might know that a few months ago I gave up my female to a rescue. The hardest decision Id ever had to make and regret it everyday! My female used to love the shower! before i got her a nestbox she was obsessed with wardrobes. I believe it was nesting behaviour. Chained? Please do NOT chain a bird. This is cruel and there is no need. That is why many of us clip the birds wings.. if you do not know how please get someone trained to do it. There is an adjustment period as Taywer said. It takes time and patience to build a relationship. All birds CAN and WILL ...

Sometimes even hand raised birds can be shy. Ive had a few like this even though handled daily they still get 'flighty' around new humans. Remember this is early days. I have heard of similar behaviours. But not directly shaking at an object/toy. Sounds similar to what my 11 year old boy does and has been doing it for years. Typically, his foot starts off 'waving' or shaking (closed like a fist) and he talks to it like hes talking into a microphone, but stra...

If she is feeding them there should be no problem. I noticed my girl would ignore hers more and more as they grew older and feeding less often, she would also come out for longer periods after the 1st week. Hi Michelle.. There is alot to think about. There is the possibility the bond may be broken, or just a different bond as i found out when my tame pet male started breeding (he had his 1st chicks last year at 10 years old). I found I had to let him be in breeding season. He became wild and hard to ha...

Hi Myrka, unfortunately we cannot stop what comes natural. I had a male and female, they were both tame before she became sexually mature.
