11 months

I bought my ringneck last November, he was about 7 months old. He was very timid, scared of hands, didn't make much noise or play with his toys very much. Now at about 11 months he loves to chatter at my girlfriend and I, he lands on us and shares our dinner, loves his toys and has just started tryi...

My IRN does, and my Patagonian Conure did. I believe it has to do with the dryness of the pellets,

How I get my bird to eat vegetables

I cook a little brown rice and lentils together, when it's almost cooked through, I add chopped fresh broccoli, a tiny bit of salt and lots of red pepper flakes.
When it's cooked through, I spoon some in his bowl and refrigerate the rest.
He will scarf this up, broccoli and all.

8 days with a new baby

don't think this will be interesting to anyone but I feel like writing. I've had my 7 month old powder blue IRN for 8 days now. I named him mouse because he's little, cute and makes squeak sounds. I think he might be starting to recognize his name when I say it. He seems like he's adjusting OK. I th...

Oh, and thank you for mentioning the diet tips! I need to find some treats that Mouse can't resist. I know part of taming him will have to be offering treats to him by hand that he can't resit!

I'm sorry I didn't write more. My name is Johnny. I'm a bachelor and live alone in Portland, Oregon. I went to a bird show last weekend. I looked at all the babies for sale. I saw this cute, adorable little ringneck. He was on the front of his cage making peep noises at me. I walked by again later, ...

How'd you do it?
My baby is 7 months, and I've only had him 4 days. He's going to need a bath or shower pretty soon, but he's not 100% handtame yet.

Baths or showers for an untamed baby?

I'm on 4 days with my new baby IRN.
It struck me tonight, he's going to need a bath or shower pretty soon, and, he's not hand tame.
What should I do?
Does your bird prefer taking a bath, or being showered?
What advice would you have for getting your bird clean, when it's not really tame yet?

need help taming a baby

I really need some advice. I've never had a baby before. I've had a 7 month old Indian Ringneck for 2 days. He was hand fed as a baby, but after spent all his time up until now in a cage with 3 siblings, and wasn't handled anymore. The breeder told me he'd nip me a lot, but I should gently force him...

I went to a bird show with lots of breeders. I didn't have a certain breed in mind, just wanted a smaller bird that was quieter than the Patagonian Conure I was forced to get rid of years ago. I saw this little 7 month old IRN in a cage with 3 siblings. He came up to the very front of the cage, look...

Just got my first IRN

I just got a 7 month old yesterday. I think he's doing great. Squeaking a lot, eating good, made the little beak grinding noises at bedtime etc. He's scared of my hands, but he did climb on my forearm and didn't bite. Can someone recommend some good treats? I want to give him a little reward while I...
