Hi guys.. Because Skye has a collar on, she hasn't been plucking. Feathers are growing back nicely. The collar has been on for the past 4 and a half months. She is quite used to it, but im hoping to have it off her pretty soon! Nope, I never feed them from the same bowl. They have their own bowls. S...

Thanks for asking! Kiwi still likes to aggrivate Skye somewhat.. When they are both on my shoulders, Kiwi, comes across to Skyes shoulder and makes her fly off.. Im assuming its Kiwi fighting for the heirarchy.. Other than that, they seem pretty much ok.. SKye sometimes sleeps on top of Kiwi's cage....

that makes me really sad to hear.. The whole point of me getting another birdie was because Skye is a plucker and now has a collar on to stop the habit.. I figured that when the collar comes off, she might get bored again and start plucking again.. I got kiwi so that skye has a friend to play with.....

Thanks for that Mikaela.. I really appreciate your reply.. The only thing im concerned about is the fact that I hate caging birds - or any animal for that matter.. Skye has a cage that has her food and water, but the door is permanently open - she also has a tree that my dad and I made for her.. It ...

Hey guys.. I got a baby IRN 2 Sundays ago.. TOTALLY adorable!! just got a quick question - how and when do I start weening kiwi? Also, she still likes to burrow into her blankie.. and likes to be under covers even tho its very hot outside.. Is this normal? When will it be a "safe" age to put her in ...

just a quick note on the above.. I read someone saying that when the birdie goes potty they say "poo poo" there is a big danger in doing this as the bird learns to associate the word poo poo with doing its business. In some cases, birds have been known to hold in their potty until someone says "poo ...

If you want my opinion, I think maybe the birdie is a little timid still.. By using clicker training, not only do you build up a really good trusting relationship with your feathered friend, but you also get to reinforce good behaviour and will grow up to be a really good bird and who can play quiet...

Basically clicker trainign reinforces good behaviour.. We do not believe in punishment of any sort.. if you join the group, believe me, you can learn so so much from them.. eventually, you can teach your birds tricks to keep them occupied as well.. for example playing basketball, roller skating and ...

I cant put it down to the collar anymore because she ha...

just a quick note.. IRN's are not affectionate loving birds.. They dont like to be scratched and petted etc.. If you were after a loving affectionate bird, im afriad you picked the wrong bird.. my suggestion is when you walk up to the cage, talk in a soothing voice.. Hold your hand out (mmm, like your finger in a perch like position - hope that made sense).. and walk up to Quinn slowly.. this is so that he anticipates your coming toward him.. maybe hold a treat out to him.. that will make ...
