I know what you mean :) It makes me laugh when Gandalf preens and scratches around her ears and you can see them under her feathers, when she starts poking around with her claws it makes me cringe a bit though.

Gandalf flying to my hand.

A couple of short vids (appologies for the poor quality) of Gandalf flying to my hand, we've only been working on this for a few weeks so I'm quite pleased, especially since she wasn't hand reared.

Forgive the lovebirds and the dog making a racket in the background.

I looks highly impractical and way too small.
Cages like that look cute to our eyes but does your bird really care if it looks like a little house? Size, safety and ease or performing maintainence taskes, ie; feeding, cleaning etc are more important than a sweet design.

Gandalf loves bananas! She will happily fly over to my hand while I'm trying to eat one and swipe an inch off the top in one bite, fly back to her cage and tuck in. She makes a really cute mushy, squidgy noise when she eats 'nana. :D

I got Gandalf when she was 12 weeks old and she had her first moult at around 9 months of age, all tail and body feathers and all but the two first primaries on each wing were moulted out from what we could tell.

I'll soon know if a name change is in order.

I've just sent off for a feather collection kit so that I can have Gandalf dna sexed. He/she'll be one year old on 19th of May and it will be nice to know with a some degree of accuracy whether Gandalf is a he or a she (I think a hen though I always give male names until proven otherwise, no idea wh...

New Arrivals

I was contacted earlier in the week by a member of Simon's R/C racing club, they were looking after two young lovebirds that belonged to a relative who had recently passed away but they couldn't keep them due to an allergy. They asked if anyone could take them and I said I would love to. They arrive...

New pics and vid of Gandalf.

I've taken some new pics and a video of Gandalf, now aged 11 months. He isn't doing anything especially exciting in the video as he's too busy noseying at the workmen outside today.
Sorry about the low quality of the video, I'd forgotten I had my phone on the lowest quality setting.

Hi all,

I've not been around for a while, probably since last October or so, it's a long story, won't bore you all to death with it here. :D

Gandalf my albino IRN is now 11 months old, time has flown by so fast.
I will take some new pictures of him soon, he's really growing up now. :)
