Taming a 3 y/o

I just bought a 12 y/o Turquoise male and a 3 y/o female. They live in the same cage and love each other very much. They preen each other and snuggle together all the time. The were aviary birds. The male is very very tame and comes out and spends time with me, however, the female is very wild. I ha...

Housing male & female in large cage

Hello everyone, I have not posted here in a very long time. I have had my Lutino Ringneck for 1 1/2 years now. Still very very tame, never went through the stage of biting etc. I have been thinking about getting a female companion for him. I want to build an outside cage / aviary, but don't know wha...

Ringneck and Cockatiel

I have a Ringneck and a White faced cockatiel and they are best of friends through their cages. In fact as soon as I let the Ringneck out of his cage he wants to go to the Cockatiels cage immediately. He spends hours and hours on top of his cage. I have never tried putting them togther. How large of...

They all seem to do 'something' uniquely different with all of our babies. I LOVE ringnecks. My Paco does somethi...

Shoulder

I let both my birds on my shoulder. My cockatiel will fly from his cage to land on my shoulder. My ringneck has clipped wings but he loves to sit on my shoulder. Never had an issue, other than playing with my hoop earrings.

Bedtime

My Cockatiel (Fabio) and Ringneck (Paco) get up at 6:15 am every morning when I uncover their cages. I get them out for about 10 minutes while I change their water, fill their seed/pellet cups and give them fresh veggies. Then back to their cages until I get home about 4:00 pm. Then their cages are ...

Standing on one foot

My IRN has started standing on only one foot when I hold him. Is this normal behavior for these guys? Its mostly when I hold him on my finger. He tucks his right foot up into his feathers and you can't even see it. It isn't hurt because he uses it to climb all over me and his cage. Thanks, Pommeraniac

I had never heard of a white faced tiel. I posted on Freecycle that I wanted to get another bird because I had a large empty parrot cage sitting empty. The guy emailed me and said they had a 4 y/o whtie faced tiel they wanted to find a home for as they had too many pets. I told him I was definately ...

Fruit / Veggies needed???

Okay my guy will not touch fruits or veggies. On occassion he will eat a grape. He loves his Zupreem pellet and his seed mix. Do they need the fresh fruit and veggies?

Food

My baby was only eating a seed mix and minimal fresh veggies every day. I went to the pet store and looked for a pellet and found Zupreem. I filled his cup with that instead of the seed mix and he went crazy. He ate almost the entire bowl. I now keep a cup of the seed mix, a cup of Zupreem Pellets, ...

Ok so I may be a bad parront but I let Bodi wander the house on his own. I have the living room and hallway bird-proofed...so they can have there to wander about. Training

Is there a way to train these fun filled little bundles of joy to stay on their cage or play stand? I have a cage that opens on the top and has a perch that goes across the top. I have toys up there, but he constantly flies down to the ground. His wings are clipped so its not a graceful landing. Usu...

Housing two birds together

That was the decision I believed you would come to after some research. I mean hey, Ringnecks are mean... period. To say any dfferent is ludicrous. We have to make them 'want' to be nice. And hunny it aint easy. You made a very good decision! I keep hearing how mean they the ringneck bird can be. I...

Housing two birds together

I just got my larger cage and am wondering if I can house two birds in the same cage. Would two males get along or would it be best to do male and female. I have my 5 month old lutino and the woman that sells them has baby grays too. Males are $150 and females are $100. She has several breeding pair...

Refurbishing Cage

Okay I was given a large cage but the paint is chipped in some places and the latch is broken on the door.

Is there somewhere I can order a replacement latch? I don't know the brand of the cage.

Also what paint can I use to repaint it? Is there special paint for bird cages?

Thanks,
Scott

I am new to the group and new to Ringnecks. I just posted "New Ringneck Addict" on the Introduce yourself post. I have a question about the eyes of the lutinos. Hello Everyone!!! I just got my first Ringneck last night . I don't think it is an Indian Ringneck though. He is only 4 months old and is a hand fed baby Lutino. He is Fluorescent Yellow with red eyes. The sweetest little thing you could ever come in contact with. I am uploading photos to the web ri...
