Re: No tail question

He's terrified of hands inside his cage and goes to a corner if you get too close to the cage. I don't think I'll be able to take a picture of his butt - I only get to see it when he climbs around upside down and if you approach him, he'll go hide on a perch.

Re: No tail question

We have a dog with an extra toe and an extra nipple and a cat that had to have a leg amputated and has crooked front legs. We're all about the special ones haha so Mojo fits right in lol I don't think I've ever seen my little bare-butt banana bird in a sour mood. He must know he fits in!

No tail question

I purchased my 3? y/o lutino irn in January and at the time, he didn't have his tail feathers. I've been waiting for them to grow in but so far nothing. He does sometimes get little white fuzz feathers on his butt but then they're gone. When he's climbing upside-down on the top of his cage, you can ...

Re: Taming Ka

So far Ka has been interested in foraging toys but I admit I'm not very creative though after reading your suggested sites, Ellie, I have a few more ideas now :) Thank you. We did buy a toy from Petsmart a while ago that had a bunch of shredable/chewable rings and balls all over it tied together wit...

Taming Ka

I felt I was making so much progress with Ka until the kid incident, Ka still obviously hasn't gotten over it. He/she still lunges whenever hands are in sight. When you turn to walk away from the cage, lunge. When you approach the cage just to talk, lunge. The only time Ka won't lunge right away is ...

Re: Taming x2!

Not really much to update. Fiance's son and nephew thought Ka made such funny noises when he was mad/upset that they teased him by scaring him with their hands, moving them all around in front of the cage and such a few weekends ago. Ka still hates hands after that so I have to start all over again ...

Re: Taming x2!

So I bought Ka a new cage with a playstand on top and opened the cage door so she could climb around, explore, and eventually find the perch up top ^_^ She is pretty amused being up there so far. Though I don't know if I should keep using "she" because it looks like she's got little black ...

Re: Taming x2!

Holy crap! Huge progress with Mr Mojo ^_^ I always give Ka treats and I'll hold some for Mojo through his bars and then normally just drop it in his food dish so he watches me do it. Today he leaned over and tried taking a peanut from me!! It shocked me and I dropped the peanut lol. But Yaaaaaay any...

Re: Taming x2!

An update! Mojo no longer flies/moves away from my hand when I reach in to grab his water dish. He just watches me from his perch beside the door. He doesn't like it when the bigger door is open but it has a sliding smaller door that I can just put my hand through to reach the dishes. He also doesn'...

Taming x2!

I brought home a lutino IRN for my fiance on Jan 7th that he named Mr. Mojo and on Jan 26th our landlord brought a blue IRN over. The bird was in a tiny cage not suitable for 2 budgies at a pet store and he felt so bad for the poor thing that he decided to rescue her. He told us if we didn't want he...

Re: Proud new owner(s)!

Thanks for the Welcome and recovery wishes Ellie! It's been a week now since I brought Mojo home and I've learned that our little guy doesn't like cranberries or oranges but adores apples, bananas, and an assortment of veggies. I bought him some rice and bowtie noodles to try out this week along wit...

Proud new owner(s)!

Before Christmas, my fiance and I were browsing our local pet shop and wandered over to their bird section. We stopped and looked at what was labeled a "Yellow Ringneck" and thought it was such a gorgeous bird. We moved into our own place and our landlord showed us his African Grey parrot....
