I personally would take the chance. Having a band means he was an aviary bird and registered at some time.
If you can't find the owner then you have a great bird. You could get it DNA tested. The male has a black band on the face and neck. The female doesn't.

Re: Urgent advise needed!
If I think my birds (of all kinds) are lacking, I give a mixture of Codliver oil, calcium and pentavite (baby vitamins) It helps and I have fixed a couple of baby IRN's and a drake who wouldn't walk. He was too heavy for his legs. ;) I am not saying this will fix your bird, but as you are trying eve...

Re: IRN Question
I had a female grey IRN fly in some time ago. I could not handle her, she was either aviary bred (not tame) or frightened. I had to separate her from the others for a specific reason and she had a turn around. Because I put her in a cage approx .800x.800x1.500high and I was the only person to feed h...

to exchange or not to
Hi all, I have a lovely pair of related olive green ring necks. Unfortunately, being siblings, I cannot let them breed and breeding season is soon upon us. Can I have two males in the same aviary, it is 1.5 m wide, 2 m high and 3.5 m long. I also have 5 cockatiels and 4 quail in the same cage. I don...

Re: very new to ringnecks laying eggs.
Sanjays mummi is right. But when you candle the egg be in a darkish room. Cup the torch in the hand and hold the egg over the torch. That concentrates the light on the egg itself. You need to wait for almost a week before you see a great difference. It is the same for all eggs and I have often candl...

Baby with troubled leg
I have 3 of 4 RN's left. One sadly passed away. I really don't think mum was feeding them at the end. One of the surviving is struggling to stand. I had a good look today while feeding it. I have only been hand feeding for 2 days now and the babies were huddling together so I didn't notice right off...

Hi all, I am new to this forum. I am in SE Qldin the Lockyer Valley. I have had IR's for some years now and I am learning something new every day. I am, by no means, an expert with birds. I prefer my birds sometimes to people. :) I have mostly Olive Ringnecks. I have a pair of birds breeding really ...
