My female IRN does this too at the top of her cage. We keep shoeboxes for her near her playstand with the two ends cut out she can run in and hide if she wants to. He is beautiful!!! I have never seen an older IRN with a ring in person but if it is half as nice as the pictures its no wonder they think they are all that

Merlin is still little so far he's tried and likes grapes and raisins and out of his fruit treat he picks the dried apricots out of there too.

The grapes I have to cut in half because he will lose his balance and drop it if he tries to hold it in his foot

I just adopted a blue and now they have 4 lutinos they are handraising...
not sure of the area you are in I found many breeders just not within driving distance for myself to bond with the bird before he came home.

Jeez there is so much to read...and such good help for a first time IRN owner. We also have a 2 year old lutino budgie Honey, and a netherland dwarf rabbit strawberry who is now 10. My daughters budgie died last fall his name was cotton candy so when naming Merlin I put my foot down and said no food...
