Does anyone know at what age does ringnecks develope blue around there iris? My husband brought home a baby told to be roughly 8 weeks. Its a grey colour but the eyes already have blue around the iris and the skin around the eye is orange. I thought babies dont have that? Am i right to be suspicious...

I give her apple, banana, pear whatever fruit i have home really...sunflowerseeds and walnuts mostly.will buy some pomegranate, i bet she would love that. Thank you for your reply. Yes i have come to understand that patience is a big one when it comes to ringnecks :) but were getting there. Yesterday cookie took sunflowerseeds from my hand for the first time and now i can give her bits of fruit etc. If shes not interested i put it in her bowl and wait...

I just recently got a 12 week old indian ringneck. Had it for aprox a week now. im going to call it she although i dont know what sex yet. she comes out of her cage on her own. steps up on my hand when i approach her and lets me scrach her neck and seems fine with me touching her. Hi, i got a indian ringneck i think 5 days ago now. I sat next to his cage as much as i could and i still do. Sat next to him eating, reading, on the phone and so on. Offering him treats every now and then. And i think second day he started taking apple and walnut from my hand through the cage wire....

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful. I will start of with a few hours a day outside the cage. So that maybe we can find some kind of rutine with time. Will keep interacting with him daily and hopefully have a tame flying bird in the future.

The cage is 50 cm wide 75 cm high and 40 cm deep. His tail was clipped of before i got him, i dont know why so hes quite small for now, moving around fine. But once the tail grows back i might need a bigger cage? I have the cage door open all the time while im home and today he came out for the firs...

Thank you for your help. I know nothing about clipping wings, i never clipped my other birds. Small budgies so i never had to.
Is it prefered to have bigger birds clipped? How often do u have clipp them?
Or will it be fine with all his feathers. Dont want him to hurt himself.
