YAY, finally a baby chick hatched on sunday, i think theres only one but i dont want to disturb the chick
what types of food should i be feeding the pair now and how much?????

Good for you and we'll expect pics when they are old enough it won't set them or parents back by disturbing them.

We do hope that's soon though.

Sorry I have no idea what or how much to feed. Just want to see the babies

The pair should love soft foods- veggies and fruits. A good pellet and seed is good too for diversity.

Do try for more veggies than fruits. Fruits are loved but higher in sugar. Some birds though will only eat the fruits and very few veggies.

when i try check on the chicks the mum jumps up and down and dosnt get off, so im scared shes hurting the chick

Some bird moms are like that. You may be better just listening for the chick's voices. You should be able to distinguish them if more hatch. They should hatch every other day.

It's hard to get a mom out of the nestbox long enough sometimes. They usually dive in when they see you coming, lol.

If this is your pair's first clutch, I wouldn't hand feed. They need to learn how it all works and they learn best through trial and error. I've lost chicks at first (lovebirds) but in the long run you get really good parents. When the chicks are always pulled from the beginning, some just stop feeding the chicks around the time you would normally pull. They just don't know what to do from then on.

I don't know if any other breeders have had the same experience. Of course, I was working with lovebirds, not IRNs.

hi, yea this is my ringnecks first time, actually with chicks.
The chicks died in the shell last year, i wasnt thinking of handrearing anyway kuz i have to go school lol, so got no time
